Get a shopping list!

On the one hand, this is a no-brainer.  On the other hand, I’m surprised at how many people don’t do it.

If you don’t keep a running grocery list you might want to try it.  Whether it’s a pad of paper that you keep by your ingredients, a magnetic whiteboard on your mini-fridge door, or a smartphone app (I use ShopListFree for iphone.  No cost and no frills.  If you for some incomprehensible reason care a lot about which grocery list app to use, don’t worry, there are people just like you on the internet.  Check out the top grocery apps for the iphone and android respectively.)

If you don’t have a car on campus and rely on someone else to drive you to the store, having a running list ensures that you can go at the driver’s convenience without lingering at home to figure out what you need to buy.  Also, you’ll do less bumbling around, so your trips will be faster and more productive.
